Most jobs involve counseling duties, while there are a few positions which involve instruction only. The majority of college-age positions are found in the Woodcraft Camp with the 9-13 age group.
In the Woodcraft Camp, counselors are expected to live in a cabin with 10-12 youngsters and be responsible for their overall activities. In the Upper Camps, counselors are responsible for a group of youngsters living in a residence hall environment.
All salaries will vary with experience and level of education. Employment by agreement is for seven weeks - one week of orientation and six weeks of camp.

The Road Less Traveled provides summer Community Service, Wilderness Adventure, and Global Perspectives trips for students ages 13-19. As a staff member you have the opportunity to lead a group of dedicated students in the teaching of wilderness skills, cultural and environmental awareness, and community service.
You will work with committed, experienced, and supportive staff members while backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, desert hiking, kayaking, and whitewater rafting.
Trip leaders begin their summer with 8 days of staff training in Colorado. Must be 21 years old, have experience working with teenagers and possess solid wilderness skills. Hold a valid drivers license and maintain a good driving record. Leaders must hold current WFR or WEMT certification. Personal interview mandatory.

All Birch Trail campers go on 3-8 day camping trips in the upper-Midwest and Canada. Trip Leaders organize and guide basic camping, backpacking, flat-water and white-water canoeing, sea kayaking, horseback riding, and rock climbing trips depending on their skills and experiences.
Applicants should have experience and interest in camping and working with children. As a leader on trips, Trip Leaders should be level-headed, responsible, safety-minded, and fun. All applicants must be at least 21 years old, hold a current driver's license, and have a good driving record.
We provide extensive training at camp in outdoor, camping, and counseling skills. We offer opportunities to earn certifications, including LGT and WFR.
