Activity Specialists teach in one of the following activity areas: sailing, skin diving, kayaking, power boat activities, challenge course, arts & crafts, target sports, photo journalism, or nature.
Activity Specialists must have previous teaching experience or significant personal accomplishment in the program area they are applying to teach. All staff must be First Aid & CPR certified. All waterfront staff must be waterfront lifeguard certified.
Activity Specialists live in a cabin with a cabin counselor and 8-10 campers. You are expected to be active participants with your cabin and must communicate effectively with your co-counselor so that both of you are comfortable with the cabin dynamic.

Deer Hill Expeditions seeks experienced, motivated, and caring outdoor educators to lead wilderness expeditions and service projects in the American Southwest, Ecuador, and Costa Rica.
Responsibilities of Field Leaders: To ensure the safety and well-being of each participant and to lead expeditions that are fun while fostering participants' growth as individuals.
Specific elements include: teaching wilderness living skills, off-trail route finding, adjusting backpacks, fixing stoves, guiding loaded rafts through rapids, facilitating fun games and activities to a group, managing a top rope site or guiding a difficult discussion of the group's dynamics.
Qualifications: Previous experience leading groups in the wilderness. Experience leading and teaching rafting, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, backpacking, mountain biking, mountaineering, canyoneering and/or service projects. CPR + WFR certification. Training from NOLS, OB, or college outdoor programs a plus.
Program Counselors are needed for Horseback Riding, Swimming, Canoeing, Rowing, Fishing, Kayaking, Arts & Crafts, Adventure, Sports, Environmental Ed/Outdoor Ed, Animal Care, and Trail Riding.
Program Counselors are responsible for developing age-appropriate skill-based lessons for camper groups in their program area, as well as camper evaluations and communicating with parents.
Program Counselors should have previous experience in their area of interest and in working with children. All Roughing It Staff members serve as supervisors and role models to campers.
